(Luke 15:8-10) “Or what woman, having ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it? “And when she has found it, she calls her friends and neighbors together, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the piece which I lost!’ “Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” (NKJV)
I am sure we all can see that we are dealing here with coins of great value for the silver coins then perhaps had higher value than the value of our gold coins at the present. This woman had therefore lost part of her heritage and she diligently searched for it, got it back and made a party. While I am sure this story very well applies to Jesus looking for the lost, it can as well apply for the church (woman) looking for her lost heritage.
And yes you and me have lost more than one coin; where is the glory in our services? Where are the gifts of the Holy spirit? Where is love and care in our churches and in our families?
Where is Joy in our marriages? Where are our teenagers and our youth? Slowly but surely the enemy has come and stolen that which we value most and there is the admonition from the Holy Ghost, that this is the time to light our lamps and search diligently for our heritage that we have lost. And I hear Him say ; “ Search and you shall find……… whoever searches finds” (Luke 11 : 9-10).
One time, the enemy captured and took away David’s family and property. David enquired of the Lord;
(1 Samuel 30:8) So David inquired of the LORD, saying, “Shall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them?” And He answered him, “Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all.” (NKJV)
How wonderful that David did not just let go! And how we need more Davids today.
The very first declaration of Jesus about His ministry when He came from wilderness started with these words;
“ The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because He has anointed me…… and ended with ………..to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord) Luke 4:18.
What is the acceptable year of the Lord? This is Jubilee! What happened in Jubilee? Every 50 years all Israelites got back all the inheritance they had lost. If anyone had sold or lost his land, in Jubilee, it reverted back to him. If anyone or his children had been sold as slaves because of debt, in Jubilee they were free again.
(Leviticus 25:9-10) ‘Then you shall cause the trumpet of the Jubilee to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month; on the Day of Atonement you shall make the trumpet to sound throughout all your land. ‘And you shall consecrate the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a Jubilee for you; and each of you shall return to his possession, and each of you shall return to his family. (NKJV)
This declaration of Jesus has profound implications. When you come to Christ you don’t have to wait for 50 years to come to Jubilee! You enter into Jubilee through Jesus and remain there all your live on earth. This then becomes the basis for our search. We know it is Jubilee but do we know what we have lost? Will we rise up light our lamps and search for it or shall we lethargically lose even more than we have so far lost. I put it to you that yes we can get back what we have lost and we will. We are doing it here in Immenstadt amidst great opposition and my hope is that you are doing it in your city too. One of my greatest joys in the recent past has been to see people who had given up on church after being hurt or dismayed previously in churches, come back and with Joy reconnect once more with God and with the church. We have our next healing conference on 31st July and 1st Aug in the Castle (Schloss) hall Immenstadt. Please pray with us and those who can, please plan to attend. And just to clarify, our healing meetings are not just for those who physically sick. We are coming together as the church of Jesus Christ in Allgäu and believing God for total all round healing. Our churches are sick, our marriages are in ICU, our children are emotionally wrecked and many are physically sick. There is not one doctor or pastor or government that can help us. Like David we are lifting our eyes to the hills from where our help comes from for our help and healing can only come from God the creator of heaven and earth.
It is Jubilee, let us seek what we have lost!
