From Immenstadt with Love part 1 – The good news

The good news.

The name Gospel simply means good news. But good news to whom? Sometimes what is good news to you may not be good news to me. But believe me the Gospel is good news to all people who hear it!

(Luke 2:10-14) Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. “For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. “And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” (NKJV)

Surely the good tidings of great Joy is for you and me today. In whatever situation you and me find ourselves in, we have a savior. We are drowning but the life safer has come. We are sick but the doctor of the doctors has been sent to us by God. We have sinned but the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world has been sacrificed for our sins. In whatever predicament we find ourselves in, the help has already been sent! That is the Gospel; the good news. So how do we receive this help that has been sent to us from heaven with love?

According to Jesus there are only two things we need to do; repent and believe!

(Mark 1:14-15) Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.” (NKJV)

We often fail to understand how great God’s love for us is. We shout and cry and sometimes punish ourselves in an effort to persuade God to do what He Himself greatly desires to do! Jesus said clearly that we fathers of this word wants to give our children bread, when they so ask. How much more will the righteous heavenly Father meet the needs of His children when they pray.

But as Jesus put it, the condition of our hearts and unbelief are the two main reasons that we fail to receive what he has for us so readily availed.

(Isaiah 59:1-2) Behold, the LORD’S hand is not shortened, That it cannot save; Nor His ear heavy, That it cannot hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear. (NKJV)

Don’t you think it is time to do a bit more soul searching and perhaps a little less crying. God is a Spirit and they that worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and truth. They that pray to Him must understand that our hearts are our spiritual component and the access way for God to us. When our hearts are prepared, God will come to us swiftly and without a lot of persuasion.

(Psalms 139:23-24) Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting. (NKJV)

Recently Lydiah and I had a great problem with the Registration of our school. The District education board could not register our school because we didn’t have enough land. The implication of this was so big , because we were required to take our standard eight candidate class to be registered in another school. This in turn would make parents to loose confidence in us perhaps with serious admission consequences. But one night, as we prayed God ministered to us in the way our hearts were clinging to this school and that we should let go and let God. We prayed about this and to our surprise, two days later the board met again revisited the issue of registration and registered our school.

Please do not underestimate how the condition of your heart, is hindering God’s help and grace to you. Bitterness, unforgiveness, defilement ( WHAT OF PORNOGRAPHY) gossip and evil speaking are among others manifestations of condition of hearts where God has no way through.

(1 John 1:8-9) If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (NKJV)

Please allow me to speak a few more times about our hearts before we talk about our faith. Pray over this message and be a doer of the word. Share with us the manifestations and the visitations you experience from God.

I love you with the love of Jesus. You are always in my prayers.

Pastor James Kimani.
