Hello beloved!
I had a wonderful short 10 days holiday with my family in Kenya. Thanks for those who supported me financialy and in prayers
God was gracious to me and I am now back refreshed and ready to continue with the work
.God has been talking to me so much about hearing His voice before I act.
Let us think a little bit about Naaman.
(2 Kings 5:10-12) And Elisha sent a messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean. But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper. {I thought: Heb. I said} {I thought…: or, I said with myself, He will surely come out, etc} {strike: Heb. move up and down} Are not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? may I not wash in them, and be clean? So he
turned and went away in a rage. {Abana: or, Amana} (KJV)
Like Naaman we all have our thoughts on how God should work and bring about what we need. But God does not work the same way as men .. God could see that the greatest barrier to Naaman’s miracle was not the fact that he was not a jew. It was not the fact that leprosy was a sickness without a cure. It was not the fact that he had commited so many sins or that he had been sick for so long or so short. The problem was the pride in Naaman’s heart beacause of his great success and until and unless he dealt with it there was not going to be a miracle.
The rich young ruler was a good man but he was so possessed by his money that he could not receive what Jesus had.
(Luke 18:18-24) And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God. Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother. And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up. Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me. And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich. And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God! (KJV)
We do not need to pursuade or manipulate God who is more than willing to give all good gifts to us His children. But we need to hear His voice so that He can address the situations in our lives and in our hearts that block and frustrate His power in our lives.
It is interesting that both Naaman and the rich young ruler sought God’s word for their conditions. But both did not like what God said to them. This is also true for us. It is always painful when God deals with the issues that separate us from God’s power.
It is my prayer for you that you will seek God’s voice for your situation and allow God to deal with your heart in the best way He knows how.
Like Naaman but unlike the rich young ruler may we follow through all that God says and I am sure just like with Naaman we will witness God’s glory in our lives. The attached devotion has really touched my heart and it is my hope that it willl touch yours as well.
You are always in my prayers.
Pastor James Kimani.
